Therapeutic, prevention, active comparators: know the design first.
Therapeva explains study-design choices: therapeutic versus prevention questions, active-comparator arms and open-label extensions. Information only. We do not run or recommend studies.
01
Therapeutic vs prevention
Different goals, different enrollments.
02
Active comparators
When both groups get an active option.
03
Open-label extensions
What longer follow-up can show.
Design Notes
01Therapeutic studies and prevention studiesSome studies test whether a product helps people who already have a condition. Others test whether it can lower the chance of getting one. The designs ask different questions.02When a study compares two active optionsNot every study uses a placebo. Some compare a new approach with a treatment that is already used, so both groups receive an active option.03Open-label extensions after a blinded studyAfter a blinded study ends, some participants are offered continued access in an extension where everyone knows what they receive. It is a different kind of data.
